Independent Woman Week- Taking Care Of Yourself

Okay so I am organized (sometimes to a fault), have a semi career, but my last criteria for being an independent woman is going to ruin me for sure.

I have posted about taking care of myself before, but it is really tough to do. I dream of being physically fit but am somehow unwilling to put my time towards it. I know it's important. If you aren't healthy it doesn't matter how independent you think you are!

My good friend Michele started swimming every day (or almost) and when we got together in Palm Beach this year for our annual Theta Love reunion I nearly fell on the floor. She looked wonderful and thin! But not too thin. Just perfect. She said when she started she could barely do a lap but she's stuck with it and has become quite the little swimmer!

I felt pretty inspired by Michele and hell, I do have a pool! So I have been swimming every day. (almost) About ten laps a day so far but I plan to build up. Hubby is very impressed with me I must admit!

I am no Dara Torres, but at least I am giving this swimming thing a try! Tomorrow I will sum up what my new view of being an independent woman really means. I think my original idea needs a little tweaking!

PS!

I have a big surprise/treat for all my bloggy girls next week so make sure you tune in first thing Monday morning! We are going to have some BIG FUN next week!

You know, I struggle in this area too. I really want to get into a workout routine, but it never happens. Two weeks is the time I have always heard it takes to establish a new habit. Maybe that should be my goal for the summer.

I just love this series. This is why people pay you to write--interesting, inspiring, thoughtful, etc.

Yes! Goodness--working out is the death of me. I was really n shape when I was an undergrad and seriously never missed a day. Now, between work, husband, pets, home, I'm just so dang tired. I started kickboxing earlier this year, but, getting myself to the gym right after work is hard to do... I'm trying to get back into it. But, i will say, I went for a run last night and hopped in my pool when I got back--because it was seriously hot, humid and I had drenched myself in Off. But, still...

Can't wait to see what you have planned for next week!

Way to go! I really struggle with trying to be more physically fit. I need to really make a better effort to do this for myself.

It's so annoying that I don't have a pool (or a gym with a pool) in NYC! I LOVE swimming - it's pretty much the only workout I enjoy!

I know I keep telling you that you look like certain people, but you look just like Daryl Hannah in that picture!
