Reading Rainbow App For The Ipad! My Review!
Oh my goodness I have one electronic obsessed little man living with me. He even, when asked at preschool:
"What are you most thankful for?"
Said:
"The Ipad".
At that point we didn't even have one!
I rest my case!
Every mothers dream is to find something educational your child is obsessed with. Thank you Lord for Reading Rainbow! Yes it's back after all these years!
Not only is it easy to navigate and use, Landon was literally begging to play with it tomorrow. It's very interactive and creative in the way it let's you select a category, a book, and have a virtual backpack to keep it all in!
Here's how it works:
There are floating islands, each based on a different genre. "My Friends and Family," "Animal Kingdom," "Genius Academy" (science and math) and "Action Adventures & Magic Tales."
Click an island, and a you'll get a sliding list of of books on that
topic, with "Just for You" recommendations at the top. Below this are
short videos on the subject that have the "field trips" the series was
known for, featuring kids out in the world and Burton himself. Each
island has three or four videos, including a "Classic Reading Rainbow Video" from the original show, so you can compare and contrast haircuts from over the years!
You can can choose to read with or without narration (for readers and non readers!). You can either flip through the pages with a swipe or touch the arrow keys at the bottom. It's not overdone. It's simple and perfect!
Try it for yourself here!
Landon gives it two thumbs way UP!

More Baby Advice! What you need for a new Baby!
- Don't forget to enter my give away in the post from earlier this week so you can win EAT SLEEP POOP!
- Get a My Brest Friend pillow. It's sturdy and has been a lifesaver. It's especially helpful if you have a big baby.
- Breastfeeding is REALLY hard at first. Having a supportive husband is a huge help, as was a nipple shield.
- If you are breastfeeding, invest in an electric pump. The hands-free ones are pricier, about $100 more, so don't get one of those. Get a normal electric pump (I have the Medela backpack one) and a hands-free bustier, which is like $20.
- I love the Lily Padz more than the disposable nursing bra pads. They're reusable, waterproof so you can swim in them if you wanted, and they stop the leaking milk pretty well. I have had a few leaks, but those were my fault for not putting them on exactly right.
- A lot of people love those sleeper gowns for babies. We HATED them! They were a huge pain in the butt. Just put on a onesie, then a Swaddle Me blanket at first (get those. So much easier than trying to swaddle with an actual blanket)
- Buy lots of burp cloths (or take from the hospital!), but save the pretty ones for when you're in public. Just get the plain white ones for the house. You cannot have too many of these.
- Get some sort of play mat. We have a Baby Einstein one and I can get a good 20 minutes to get stuff done while Landon is entertained by his "friends" dangling from the mat and the mirror.
- We hate Huggies diapers. Pampers Swaddlers are working best for us right now.
- Get some sort of bouncy seat or vibrating chair. We have the Fisher Price My Little Lamb seat and it's wonderful! Landon naps in it during the day sometimes and it allows me to take a shower while he's in the seat at the doorway of the bathroom so I can keep an eye on him while I get ready.
Baby Oh Baby! Products you MUST have for a new baby!!
My friend Keri is having a baby boy! That is leading me to repost some of my "must have" baby items and advice! Feel free to chime in with your favorites!!
New Moms!! First step don't worry. You will be fine!! There are endless things to get, but let me be your personal assistant and tell you what you really need! Let the Mrs. tell you from experience!
First of all the baby will be hanging out in your bedroom for the first four months. Take a deep breath. This means you have more time to decorate the nursery! Since baby will be in your room, you need a bassinet, or in my case a moses basket on my ottoman!
You'll need a crib and mobile for their room which you will be moving them into at about 3 or four months once they stop late night feedings.
You need a good mattress in your baby crib, anything to promote great sleep! I have an organic one, more pricey but Landon is an awesome sleeper!
Diapers, wipes, baby nail clipping set all needed. Wipes warmer? I say skip it. Otherwise they expect a warm wipe when your out and about and you won't have that! I like Dr. Browns bottles, you need a variety of sizes. Changing pad and covers for your dresser or changing table.

If you're breast feeding by God spend good money on a breast pump. No reason to torture yourself! I have the medela backpack one and it's great.

You also need a boppy to lean baby or you on!

You must have Lilly Padz as well, vs the cloth pads for leaky boobies. They are so much better!!!

Baby needs a bathtub for sure and if you don't have bathroom counter space do it on the kitchen counter like me! Remember babies like to be warm so keep a warm washcloth on the tummy or they'll scream! Speaking of, you need about 6 washcloths so you don't have to wash all the time, also steal as many cloth diapers from the hospital as you can, they make great burp cloths. Sure you'll have fancy ones for when you go out, but for at home these work great. I have about 20!
You also need about 10 bibs that are washable and go with cute little outfits.
I love all the Mustela bathing products and lotions. still use them on Landon because they smell amazing!

NO IDEA what baby diaper trash can works...I still have no clue how to solve the diaper stinky trash problem. If you know tell me!
You need a bouncy chair,

a baby swing, an exersaucer

and a gymini Kick and play.

If you travel a lot or if you like to socialize at friends then you need a pack and play portable crib. Perfect for naps at friends houses!

Overwhelmed yet? You need a stroller too. So many new cool brands. Which one do you like?
Tomorrow, more Baby Stuff! Make sure you enter my give away in yesterday's post!

One Fabulous Mom's Top Ten Week- Top Ten Baby Items You need to survive!
There are a few bloggers who are pregnant right now and needing some guidance. I mean you I Pick Pretty and Beach Bum and Baby I figure I will start with the new Mom's this week but then move on to toddlers and older ones! Feel free to list your top tens too. I love to share information and help people. I think it is so important to know what works and let people know!!
Here's my top ten list of items you need for a new baby!
1. Itzbeen- The itzbeen baby timer is great whether breastfeeding or not. Instead of writing down when you fed baby last, you press a button and the itzbeen counts the time (It's been) since your last feeding. Why do you need this? Because when you first go to BABY VEGAS (you don't know what day or time it is) you become cloudy and cannot remember a thing. I still can't!!
2) Wubba Nub Passy- These are pacifiers with an animal on the end. Not only are they functional, they are adorable. The reason this is a must is because when it is time to WEAN them off the passy, you can cut it off and they can keep the animal! Way easier than inventing a passy fairy who comes and takes it away for the babies right?
3) BabyWise- get the book and read all about how important it is to give your baby the gift of sleep! Having a schedule makes sleepy time more predictable and you have a happier child. Of course all children are different and the schedule may be changed a little to fit your needs. Either way it's important to consider!
4) Dr. Browns Bottles- They make sure there is less gas and air in baby's tummy.
5) Sleep positioner- You need this so you can rotate the sides you baby sleeps on left and right so you can have a perfectly shaped baby head! Also when they are swaddled it keeps them snuggled in and some even are elevated to help with colic and acid reflux.
6) Mustela No Rinse Baby Soap- You can't bathe the baby every ten seconds. This way if they are a little stinky you can use a wash cloth and clean them up. Brilliant!!
7) Gymini- This is a little floor mat playground for baby. Encourages them to move around, roll over and enjoy tummy time.
8) Excersaucer- We had the Baby Einstein one which was great. We call this the baby's OFFICE. YOu can put them in, they play and play and are safe so you can shower, make dinner etc. A must! When baby little you will be rotating them from this to the bouncy seat.
9) Bouncy Seat- one with vibration is a must. Helps with a fussy baby and another place to sleep of put baby when you need a break!
10) Sleep Sheep- another way to help baby sleep better. A noise maker for babies. Landon still uses his and it helps him fall asleep!
You can get most of these things in my amazon store on my blog. Just click away!

Fabulous Find- Mustela No Rinse Soap!

The Mrs.
Fabulous Find: Bebe Au Lait Nursing Cover!

Nursing in public has never been my favorite nor my forte.
I am not going to whip a boob out in a public place so I need some coverage, and yet I have a hard time balancing the whole process without flashing everyone!~
I am loving my Bebe Au Lait nursing cover. I was sick of using a blanket, or all the other brands, if I had to breast feed in public. It gets so hot, falls down, or is cumbersome! This Bebe Au Lait cover hooks around your neck like an apron and has a rim around the edge that stays open so you can peak through the top and see how baby is doing! Brilliant. Need one in every color!
The Mrs.
Fabulous Find! And I won it!

Houses, Couches and Babies was hosting a little give away and I won!!!
This is the Stay Dry Bath Apron an Towel! I think this is the best invention ever. Landon was so slippery after bath time I would have loved to have had this! Now I have a Pink one for Coco! You can get yours at Target!
Thanks Houses Couches and Babies!!!
Also thanks for the rockin' Angry Julie Monday who paid it forward by giving me One Fifth Avenue to read! It's a Candace Bushnell so it's a goodie!!! Thanks Julie!
More Baby Must Haves!

I have long touted their virtue before, but let me just say I now can say even more about Wubba Nubs pacifiers.
Landon had the frog one. I say had because yesterday morning a we cut off the pacifier and let him keep the frog. Goodbye paci. Tougher on me I think! So far he's doing pretty well and still gets to snuggle with his frog! BRILLIANT!
I'm gonna get the pink pony one for baby girl.

I love my Stork Sak baby bag and will be pulling them out soon! (I have a chocolate one and a pink one!!!)

It has amazing compartments and extras like a changing pad and bottle cover already included.
Sophie giraffe is the cutest and best teether I have found. Who doesn't want their newborn to have a French giraffe!? How fancy and fabulous!

Now for the most important topic! Sleep! I told you to get a good mattress... but you also need one of these sleep positioners. This os for vanity and sleeping sake. have you seen those kids with the helmets? Yes? That is from having head and neck issues. You can prevent this (Sometimes) by switching the position you put baby in at each nap and night.

>

There are a couple of styles, you just need adjustability and flexibility!
Oh Baby, Baby- Fabulous Baby Gifts

I have a few friends that have had their second babies recently (I will be on this shortly but for now it's Mojito Madness), and of course I am giving baby gifts. I wanted to list a few of my favorite baby gifts as of late!
Above are piggy banks from Elegant Baby. Too cute and a sweet little gift.
When Landon was born Godmother gave him the cutest robe from Red Envelop with his name on it(they don't have it anymore). I've posted a picture of him in it before.
The first time we dressed him in his robe and pajamas (this one was a fleece robe), we nearly passed out with the cuteness. Now I am convinced that everyone needs to have a baby robe!
Now this does not replace the hooded towel, which is is a MUST. This is just for kicks and can be used after drying baby for lounging in the diaper or PJs'.
Here is the latest robe I found and I am dying over. It's by Kidsline. I got it at a boutique near my house. It is the softest thing ever!!!!! And too cute!

I got the orange one for my friend Vanessa, and I just got the green one for my friend Mo.
I also love all the Trumpette socks for boys and girls. The perfect gifts because infants are in socks all the time and really make them look so adorable. Baby Super Mall is a great resource for all things baby and they have a huge selection of shoes and socks.
Here are the ones Landon had:

For your little doll:

And for the golf obsessed!!!

Of course I still think the greatest gifts ever are Wubba Nubs pacifiers. They have a variety now but the frog pacifier is still my favorite.

The duck is cute too!

You can now get them at Amazon. They used to be hard to find! These are even greater because you can wedge them in and they don't pop out of babies mouth when they sleep! Genius! At $9 you can put it on your gifts as a cute topper! Done!
