Fun Things To Do With The Kids- Book Signing with Sarah Maizes!
Landon and Coco went to their first book signing at Chevaliers Book Shop! We were greeted by the author, and my pal, Sarah Maizes, who wrote the cutest book called "On My Way To The Bath".
This book literally chronicles our bath time routine. The little girl in the story desperately does anything she can to avoid taking a bath while her mother becomes more frustrated. Of course the kids thought it was hilarious!
She read the book and personally signed it to them. The kids were riveted while she was reading, and I was so happy for them to meet a real author! Landon has been learning a lot about literature and was very excited.
Sarah, who I just love, also has a great blog called Mommy Lite.
After the book signing we looked all around the book stores kid section. I just love to see their excitement for reading! You can buy "On My Way To The Bath" right here on Amazon!

One Fabulous Mom's Top Ten Week- Top Ten Baby Items You need to survive!
There are a few bloggers who are pregnant right now and needing some guidance. I mean you I Pick Pretty and Beach Bum and Baby I figure I will start with the new Mom's this week but then move on to toddlers and older ones! Feel free to list your top tens too. I love to share information and help people. I think it is so important to know what works and let people know!!
Here's my top ten list of items you need for a new baby!
1. Itzbeen- The itzbeen baby timer is great whether breastfeeding or not. Instead of writing down when you fed baby last, you press a button and the itzbeen counts the time (It's been) since your last feeding. Why do you need this? Because when you first go to BABY VEGAS (you don't know what day or time it is) you become cloudy and cannot remember a thing. I still can't!!
2) Wubba Nub Passy- These are pacifiers with an animal on the end. Not only are they functional, they are adorable. The reason this is a must is because when it is time to WEAN them off the passy, you can cut it off and they can keep the animal! Way easier than inventing a passy fairy who comes and takes it away for the babies right?
3) BabyWise- get the book and read all about how important it is to give your baby the gift of sleep! Having a schedule makes sleepy time more predictable and you have a happier child. Of course all children are different and the schedule may be changed a little to fit your needs. Either way it's important to consider!
4) Dr. Browns Bottles- They make sure there is less gas and air in baby's tummy.
5) Sleep positioner- You need this so you can rotate the sides you baby sleeps on left and right so you can have a perfectly shaped baby head! Also when they are swaddled it keeps them snuggled in and some even are elevated to help with colic and acid reflux.
6) Mustela No Rinse Baby Soap- You can't bathe the baby every ten seconds. This way if they are a little stinky you can use a wash cloth and clean them up. Brilliant!!
7) Gymini- This is a little floor mat playground for baby. Encourages them to move around, roll over and enjoy tummy time.
8) Excersaucer- We had the Baby Einstein one which was great. We call this the baby's OFFICE. YOu can put them in, they play and play and are safe so you can shower, make dinner etc. A must! When baby little you will be rotating them from this to the bouncy seat.
9) Bouncy Seat- one with vibration is a must. Helps with a fussy baby and another place to sleep of put baby when you need a break!
10) Sleep Sheep- another way to help baby sleep better. A noise maker for babies. Landon still uses his and it helps him fall asleep!
You can get most of these things in my amazon store on my blog. Just click away!

Coco's First Birthday Week!!!- First Birthday Gifts!

Coco had such a wonderful tea party, and this weekend she will have a Minnie Mouse birthday party with some kids from the neighborhood and some of her friends. How cute! she has friends!!!
Coco did already get some meaningful gifts, I thought I would share them with you!
Neighbor Sheila, who wore Lilly to the tea and helped me set up, gave Coco pearls. That's right. Coco has her first set of pearls. I bawled. Can you stand it?

Katie (Landon's besties Mommie and Coco's too!) gave Coco the most gorgeous monogrammed jewelry box from Pottery Barn. So special, for all her baubles!

Godmother Annie gave Coco a gold dipped porcelain tea set she bought at an antique store. She told me she got it for a song because it had a chip on the tea pot (you can hardly see it!) and encouraged me to just let her and Landon play with it! After hyperventilating I agreed and we had a tea party today just the three of us.
My mom, along with helping pay for the tea, sent the biggest box of gifts I've ever seen. Loaded with clothes and a doll, the best part were the HOT PINK PATENT LEATHER DRIVING MOCS. I nearly passed out.

Have you received any memorable first birthday gifts? What were they? Do tell!
First Birthday Gifts For Baby Girls! Starting Your Girl Adventure!

First birthday's are a big deal. I feel like this is the opportunity to make a statement, to buy something special. You will buy them toys for every other birthday, let's think outside the box shall we?
We were going to attend my good friend Katies youngest child's birthday. Baby Sarah is the younger sister of Landon's best friend Maddie and baby Coco's first real girlfriend! How cute is that!?
I knew baby Sarah needed something special. Something to start her adventure as a girl. So I went to Bloomingdales and started her china pattern! I bought her a dinner plate from Villeroy and Boch.
Areaus is such a gorgeous pattern (shown above). Bone china with golden filigree, auquamarine and lotus flowers. I know this is kind of a bold gift. I mean who knows what she or her Mom really like, but I think it's the thought that counts. Her Mom can change the pattern or return if she likes. (I don't think she will though, I think she wants it for herself too! LOL.)
I think of Baby Coco and I want to do the same for her. I want her to have silver and china and all things fabulous. I was a little late to the silver and china party (not really, wedding gifts), but I want to start Coco early on respecting tradition and the finer things.
I can remember my parents enrolled me in Miss Covingtons Dance school when I was very young. I complained about it, but I loved every second. We wore white gloves, learned to treat the boys with respect for at least an hour, manners and how to do the fox trot. I still remember the fox trot and I do a mean Lindy if I do say so myself.
These kind of traditions, collecting china, silver, learning manners and proper etiquette and dancing are becoming lost arts. Not in my house!!
What about you? What are your traditions? What's your best first birthday gift for a girl?
