Fortieth Birthday Party Ideas
Trolling the Internet I am disturbed by the lack of creativity for fortieth birthday party ideas. I for one think Forty is Fabulous and should be celebrated as such!
My girlfriend Alyssa threw a Seventies themed birthday party for her husband which was pretty fun. Everyone was dressed as their favorite seventies icon, the year of her hubby's birth. I was pregnant but the Mr. and I made a rockin' Captain and Tenille. I talked to Schneider from One Day At A Time most of the night, but I digress.
Last week I booked the place for my fortieth and instantly I had a theme. It's a Spanish tapas restaurant, so I am having a:
Fabulous Forty Flamenco Party!
You know it's gonna be good. Tapas, wine and dancing! Cannot wait.
Other ideas I was toying with?
Fortieth Party Ideas
Great Gatsby Fortieth
- Flapper dresses, deco decor, Dorothy Parker and bathtub gin!
White Hot Fortieth- Guests are dressed all in white, the party is modern and the disco ball would keep them moving.
Sex and the city fortieth- pink drinks, pink everything and fabulous cran-tinis, etc!
Lilly 40th- Imagine the preppyiest, palm beachyest, party ever. Oh and wearing Lilly OF COURSE.
Okay so I need your help. I am doing a little vote. You see, Papercourt Press is doing my invites. She did three fabulous samples.
A. Red Flamenco
B. Orange Flamenco
C. Dot Flamenco
Vote in the pole to the right and comment and let me know!

What a fabulous idea! Sounds like so much fun! I like option number 2. Pink and orange is one of my favorite color combinations and is the color scheme of a Lilly "Originals" print from spring.
xoxo
Such a fun party theme!! Sounds fabulous! I heart tapas!
It's been fun helping you! Can't wait to see the vote results. I personally love the dots!
Option 2 is my fave! If I lived in LA, I so would crash the party! Fabulous
No. 2 (pink and orange), definately.
Cute! I love 2 the best!
Love Jane Lynch from Glee!!!! She was amazing in Best In Show too!
I like #1 the best!
PaperCourt Press is one of my besties, so I love all 3...but I'm voting for B.
These are great ideas! I need to throw myself a 40th in August!! Although really just trying to take a girls' trip to Europe with friends. I like the dots- #3.
B. Orange Flamenco
What a great theme! I bet everyone at your party's gonna have blast.
What a fun idea! I love the dot Flamenco!
I like the colors in #2 best, but I like the layout of #1. I love this idea....you know I turned 40 last Saturday and it was AWESOME!!! Celebrating all year I think though, February is with my sisters!!!
You are too funny! I love the second one!
How fun!! Even though I'm a huge sucker for orange and hotpink....I have to go with #1! It's fabulous!!!
What a wonderful idea. I can't wait to see how it all turns out. I love choice(A).
She is SOOOO talented!! Love them all but #3 is my favorite! What fun!
I have been to a White party themed 40th birthday party and it was awesome. And naturally, as the guest of honor, you could either wear white, or anything but white, to stand out...as you should! I personally like invite A or B.
Option A is my favorite. It's my 40th year too...if I steal an idea I'll let ya know!
Love the theme and what fabulous invites!
Dear Mrs,
It's been such a long time since I had visited your blog. And always, what an inspiration!!! Love the one about Moms , Bags, Fabulous dinners you give. But my favorite is your 40th birthday pary. As a huge fan of tapas, flamenco and anything with party organizing. I definetly, love #2. Please, keep us posted on the place, decore, outfit. I can only imagine how gorgeous you will look with the red flower in your hair.
Ohh and the centerpieces !!!
Keep us posted...
