If You Want To Stay Married, Don't Do A Reality Show
Unless you don't live on earth, you have heard about the Jon and Kate split. I didn't watch the show much because she was such a brow-beater I couldn't take it! I know he's no prize either but my my is she bossy! (speaking from one who knows!)
I think it's ridiculous to say that the reality show did not cause their divorce. Of course it did!!! Let me make my case.
These two? Shana Moakler and Travis Barker. Married, kids, and then the reality show. Now divorced and hate each other's guts.
Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro were married for three seconds. Their reality show chronicled the biggest part of their relationship, the wedding plans! Now they are kaput.
How about Chaotic? Britney and Kevin professing their love...remember this? I cried over this!
Now they are done. DONE.
Nick and Jessica, the newlyweds. Now divorceyweds. Getting it yet? Hello? People stop doing reality shows!!!
It's the cameras following you everywhere, making your relationship feel special! Then when the cameras are off and you have to just take out the trash, or go to Costco, it just feels boring! Having a TV show gives you money, privilege and a HUGE HEAD! Look at Kate now, willing to ruin her kids lives and drive their father away, in order to "provide" for her kids. Hello? You are a nurse! You have a skill! You could have provided that way! Now it's too late. I think rather than vacations in Hawaii, the kids would like to live with their Dad. Clearly he does NOT want the show anymore. SHE DOES!
Relationships cannot survive the outside world coming in. It's hard enough having kids, in-laws, and friends coming in let alone Entertainment Tonight. So ladies whatever you do avoid going on reality TV (take note Kendra, and housewives of OC etc!) Or don't. I have to watch something!

don't forget hulk hogan ... splitsville.
just say no to cameras following your family around!
I couldn't agree with you more. I think the kids should live in peace with Jon and let Kate do her tour and speaking engagements. I feel bad for the kids, they are going to get dragged through the mud.
I totally agree...and Meet the Barkers was one of my favorite shows. I have a slight obsession with Travis Barker though.
I agree. It's too bad she turned into such a diva. Those poor children.
I totally agree!
Great post! :)
word !!!
I completely agree. I like to think I would never do something like this given the chance, and I KNOW my husband wouldn't!
I'm hoping this curse doesn't befall my current reality TV loves, Tori & Dean . . .
I was thinking about this last night as I watched Tori and Dean. I sure do hope they make it. I love them and their show.
Well said. I don't get the appeal of doing the show - maybe I am just too lazy. :) But you have a point, what would we watch??
It's so true. It's almost like a curse or something.
It's so sad. Maybe some of them would have made it if it werent for the TV show(s).
Exactly!! Even relationships NOT on TV must avoid negative outside influences from friends, etc.
I completely agree with you, especially about the whole "providing" thing. You are totally right, Kate is a nurse, they can find some other way to provide for their children. But I guess that's what happens when you put money before your family...
On another completely different note, I just watched the clip of Britney and Kevin and please tell me if you think the part where she is picking the flowers- does it look like she has a joint in her left hand? I went back and watched it over and over and I really think that's what it is. I guess it doesn't really matter either way... just curious!
I completely agree. They should have kept their little house, given up the tv show, and joined the rest of us in reality!
What's with Jon's diamond stud earrings in each ear. I wanted to vomit! Is that all part of the identity crisis from which he is suffering?
love your post. so true, and i am so sad about that family!! i've missed reading your blog, life has just been crazy! hope you are well, clare
This should seriously be a PSA for anyone thinking about doing a reality show. I'm thinking the Duggars are probably the only ones that will def. make it.
I loved Newlyweds... :(
Really good post! Totally true too!
Oh, and thanks for making me teary-eyed at the Kevin/Britney video... geez, I'm a sucker for romantic stuff.
So true, but I do enjoy my reality fix.
They need to stop filming!
And while getting my much needed pedicure tonight I got to catch up on my People magazine. Is Kendra pregnant? We don't live too far from the Gosselins. I think she had the right intentions at the beginning and the show just snowballed and now she doesn't know what the &*%& to do. I feel sorry for the kids. I am a child of divorce and it still affects me every holiday/birthday/etc. I agree with you with the reality list. What about 18 kids and counting? They are going to be GRANDparents now. Interesting!
Hubby and I were just talking about this the other day.
Girl, I have said the same thing over and over again. If you want a divorce, star on a tv show about your marriage. Works every time.
I couldn't agree more! I had never seen the Britney / Kevin thing...that is just darn sad!
Sad, but true.
I think a lot of those marriages were doomed from the beginning. The cameras were just the nail in the coffin.
Did you hear there is another set of sextuplets coming to TV? The Maches or something like that, I forget the channel. I read about them in Parents magazine and they seem real down to earth. I hope TV doesn't destroy them too.
DITTO!!! Especially that Kate..shame on her. It is so apparent that she ran her husband off. The saddest thing is the kids - will one day watch it all. I can't wait till the spot light goes away from her... I really don't like her!! And I like everyone!! SHe is so mean!!
