Fabulous TV- Real Housewives of NYC

Good Lord. Watched it once and I was hooked. I love The Real Housewives of Orange County, so addictive and train-wreckish. Now I have a new show to talk about and have fun with. What is it about seeing the way other people live that is so intriguing? Is it their flaws? Their fantastic fantasy lives? Their dramas? Are we wishing we were them? Dreading that we are? Glad we're not?
I'm all for living your own life your own way but this is just cotton candy at the circus. I buy it, eat it and love it.

Here's the breakdown football fans:

Jill: Owns fabric company and is on hubby #2. Has a daughter struggling with weight and a relationship with her step dad. Jill will kill you on the tennis court if you don't invite you to a party.

Bethanny: Wants to be a healthy food chef martha stewart type. Abrasive and annoying. Has a bald boyfriend she is trying to rope into marrying her.

Alex: works in visual merchandising. Weird chick married and obsessed with fashion and style although she has none. Also obsessed with her hubby. Two small kids raised by a hot French nanny. Look out!

Romona
: cheesy blonde who buys clothing inventory and sells to discount stores. Marshalls? Who knows. Daughter thinks she's a slutty dresser. Guess what? She's right. Hubby tries to pick up other girls. Cute! NOT.

LuAnn: don't let the cheesy name fool you. She married a count so she's a countess! Two kids in their teens, she has some cable show...she seems funny, and a little rude!

Maybe it's the Sociology major in me but I think it is amazing to see what other people do in their daily lives. How they handle stress, work, their families...Chocked full of information. Tune in! I am!

PS Easter went off without a hitch! More on that later!

i never watched the oc one, but i tuned into this one since it was NY. honestly, i too love to watch other people's lives. i love documentaries, i love the show intervention. i am obsessed with finding out about other lifestyles, rich or poor.

however, i have to say this show disgusts me (that doesn't mean i wont' watch it) i just think the amount of money people have is ridiculous, and how they act is embarrassing. their life seems to have no meaning if they aren't at the right party ?? aren't they ashamed of themselves after they see the show and how they act ?

Did you see the episode with Jill's mother? I about fell out when her mother was sitting on the couch with her legs wide open..very ladylike. Then she goes and takes off her sunglasses, that is a whole different show Plastic Surgery Gone Wild . FUN, She actually was a sweet mom to Jill.

LOVE your synopsis! My guilty pleasure for sure. I started with the OC when it started as I had a friend that lived in Coto so we would gab about it. I'm finding the NYC to be over the top, very tacky but that's why I love it! A great example of you can't buy taste! Also, what is with Ramona's eyes, did she have a bad eye job???

I love to watch too! Jill and Ramona are such New Yorkers with the accents, they drive me nuts! (I was born there so I can mock)

I am addicted, but at the same time disappointed that these women are who Bravo chose to profile. They are an embarressing representitive of NY-ers...it is a complete train wreck, but don't think I won't keep watching...I can't wait to hear about the Countess and her kids lice!!! Yuck!!!

I'm glad you'll be talking about it here, because the psych major in me loves to analyze...can't wait to hear about Easter!!!

I never saw the beginning of OC housewives so never got in to it. I LOVE NY housewives although some things bug me. After watching last night I can't get over Alex and her gross hubby. He is Australian but nothing like the one I am married to or other's I know. When they show them in their house I disect their surroundings. Expensive clothing to support social climbing endeavors, french nanny and in the background a gross home with what looked like a metal framed futon for a sofa. What makes them want to be in a show like this? All very interesting. You can bet that with Tivo's help I won't miss an episode.

I can't look away! The women really are annoying, but I continue to watch. Hopefully their hair will get better throughout the season. (especially Alex) I can't get past it! I can't wait for tonight's episode. I'm hopeless...

That is a good little bio of each. I have watched 2 episodes. I'm not really sure how many have aired. My least favorite is Ramona. Bethanny needs to ditch the boyfriend and move on. He doesn't want to commit.

I was very hooked on the OC Wives, but haven't decided about NYC yet. I agree with 5 Bickies about Alex! hee-hee I will keep watching to see the drama unfold. Wondering if you ever watched Blow Out or Work Out? Think new season of Work Out is starting soon.

Loved your analysis of each of the NY housewives. I absolutely loved the OC housewives and never missed a one. My husband never understood my obsession with it. The NY housewives I'm not so keen on. Why does Alex think she and her husband are so hot? Bad, bad hair. Doesn't look glamerous at all. I think she has a lot of insecurities to say the least and that husband ...ouch. He gives me chills, not in the least bit attractive. Money doesn't give you class, that is apparent in a few of the housewives already. I could go on and on, but I still have it on tivo. I'm ready for the OC housewives to come back. They were so much fun to watch.
