Surfs Up Baby Shower!
It was a great shower for Keri and baby Joshua. The weather was beautiful! The food table looked amazing. Our menu? Cucumber, Chicken Salad and Egg Salad finger sandwiches, Berry fruit Salad with mint, and Pasta Salad with Tomato and Olives.
The Cake was the main centerpiece. Don't you love the monogram!
Each table was slightly different with shells and beads as the centerpieces.
The one with the gold chargers looked fabulous.
The drink table featured our signature drink. Prosecco with Chambord and a raspberry garnish! People LOVED them!
My co-host Jessica made sure the glasses were full!
We decorated onsies for Keri and they were so cute! We also played Guess The Celebrity Baby! (with photos of Keri and her husband as babies thrown in!) It was a fabulous day and the mother to be looked fabulous!
Here are all us Junior League of Los Angeles gals in one picture!
Can't wait for Baby Josh to get here!

Surfs UP Baby Shower! Help Me Plan It!
I am throwing a Baby Shower for my sweet Junior League friend Keri! She is pregnant with her first baby, a boy! How cute are these invitations.
His room is the same theme. That is one of my big tips to shower throwers! Use the babies room as your theme so the "Mommy to Be" can keep some of the decorations in the baby's room!
We are DEFINITELY getting the cake from Susie Cakes. Oh my word they are the queens of BUTTERCREAM!
We're having the shower pool side at my house, hopefully this 100 degree heat will not continue! We'll have one big table for food and then rounds for people to sit at. There will be games. Okay all you party planners what games, advice and other ideas do you have for me? You guys are so creative!! What do you like/hate at a shower?
PS I am NOT doing that game with the melted candy bars in the diaper. GROSS!!!

Baby Oh Baby! Products you MUST have for a new baby!!
My friend Keri is having a baby boy! That is leading me to repost some of my "must have" baby items and advice! Feel free to chime in with your favorites!!
New Moms!! First step don't worry. You will be fine!! There are endless things to get, but let me be your personal assistant and tell you what you really need! Let the Mrs. tell you from experience!
First of all the baby will be hanging out in your bedroom for the first four months. Take a deep breath. This means you have more time to decorate the nursery! Since baby will be in your room, you need a bassinet, or in my case a moses basket on my ottoman!
You'll need a crib and mobile for their room which you will be moving them into at about 3 or four months once they stop late night feedings.
You need a good mattress in your baby crib, anything to promote great sleep! I have an organic one, more pricey but Landon is an awesome sleeper!
Diapers, wipes, baby nail clipping set all needed. Wipes warmer? I say skip it. Otherwise they expect a warm wipe when your out and about and you won't have that! I like Dr. Browns bottles, you need a variety of sizes. Changing pad and covers for your dresser or changing table.

If you're breast feeding by God spend good money on a breast pump. No reason to torture yourself! I have the medela backpack one and it's great.

You also need a boppy to lean baby or you on!

You must have Lilly Padz as well, vs the cloth pads for leaky boobies. They are so much better!!!

Baby needs a bathtub for sure and if you don't have bathroom counter space do it on the kitchen counter like me! Remember babies like to be warm so keep a warm washcloth on the tummy or they'll scream! Speaking of, you need about 6 washcloths so you don't have to wash all the time, also steal as many cloth diapers from the hospital as you can, they make great burp cloths. Sure you'll have fancy ones for when you go out, but for at home these work great. I have about 20!
You also need about 10 bibs that are washable and go with cute little outfits.
I love all the Mustela bathing products and lotions. still use them on Landon because they smell amazing!

NO IDEA what baby diaper trash can works...I still have no clue how to solve the diaper stinky trash problem. If you know tell me!
You need a bouncy chair,

a baby swing, an exersaucer

and a gymini Kick and play.

If you travel a lot or if you like to socialize at friends then you need a pack and play portable crib. Perfect for naps at friends houses!

Overwhelmed yet? You need a stroller too. So many new cool brands. Which one do you like?
Tomorrow, more Baby Stuff! Make sure you enter my give away in yesterday's post!

Friday Five-WORDS!

Okay I have to tell you that as a writer certain words just annoy me. I think for my Friday five I will share my five least favorite words and why. Oh I am tagging you so look out!
1) Purchase. I hate when people say this word. It's a word people use when they are trying to sound official but have no clue about anything.
2) Portion. This word freaks me out by the way people say it. It just sounds weird! I hate it!
3) Panties. Sounds child molestery and scary. I just hate it!!!
4) Purse. Do all my hate words start with "P"? I just think it sounds dated and bad. I like "bag" myself.
5) Harvest. I hate this word because people try to use it when they refer to getting the eggs out when you do in vitro. "How many do they harvest?" Hello? I am not a farm.
BONUS WORD I HATE!
6) MOIST! Please it's gross! Do I need a reason? Just say it and try not to puke.
I am tagging:
What would Kate Gosselin Do?
Magnolia Mama
Shabby Princess
Southern Cupcake
Tres Poshe
and...

Let me know when you post it girls!!!
So excited for the bloggy baby shower! I will post all the details on Monday! Make sure you sign up!
It's Raining Babies- Baby Shower Alternatives

I have a friend who did not love the idea of a traditional baby shower. Her first reason being she moved here recently and does not have enough girlfriends, and the second being she hates all the attention (can you imagine!?).
So here's what we've cooked up for her. We're going to brunch at a fabulous restaurant Geoffreys.
It has the most amazing view of the pacific and we will have a small group of couples there to toast the baby boy on the way.
I think it will be perfect.
If a shower isn't your thing you can do a couples cocktail party, or brunch. You can also do a "favor shower", where guests write down what they will do for you after the baby is born (an hour of babysitting, bring you dinner etc). Or you can have a casserole shower, where everyone brings a dish to freeze for you to enjoy once the baby arrives!
Either way let people spoil you and shower you with gifts, favors or food. Pregnancy is such a special time in life and you deserve it!!!
Oh Baby, Baby- Fabulous Baby Gifts

I have a few friends that have had their second babies recently (I will be on this shortly but for now it's Mojito Madness), and of course I am giving baby gifts. I wanted to list a few of my favorite baby gifts as of late!
Above are piggy banks from Elegant Baby. Too cute and a sweet little gift.
When Landon was born Godmother gave him the cutest robe from Red Envelop with his name on it(they don't have it anymore). I've posted a picture of him in it before.
The first time we dressed him in his robe and pajamas (this one was a fleece robe), we nearly passed out with the cuteness. Now I am convinced that everyone needs to have a baby robe!
Now this does not replace the hooded towel, which is is a MUST. This is just for kicks and can be used after drying baby for lounging in the diaper or PJs'.
Here is the latest robe I found and I am dying over. It's by Kidsline. I got it at a boutique near my house. It is the softest thing ever!!!!! And too cute!

I got the orange one for my friend Vanessa, and I just got the green one for my friend Mo.
I also love all the Trumpette socks for boys and girls. The perfect gifts because infants are in socks all the time and really make them look so adorable. Baby Super Mall is a great resource for all things baby and they have a huge selection of shoes and socks.
Here are the ones Landon had:

For your little doll:

And for the golf obsessed!!!

Of course I still think the greatest gifts ever are Wubba Nubs pacifiers. They have a variety now but the frog pacifier is still my favorite.

The duck is cute too!

You can now get them at Amazon. They used to be hard to find! These are even greater because you can wedge them in and they don't pop out of babies mouth when they sleep! Genius! At $9 you can put it on your gifts as a cute topper! Done!
Baby Shower Idea-Safari!

I have a few friends who are pregnant and I know the baby shower planning has already begun! It reminded me of the shower my mother and sister had for Landon. Usually baby boy showers are all blue and sometimes BORING! Why should the girls have all the fun?
What about a SAFARI SHOWER!
I loved my shower and the attention to detail made all the difference.

Notice the animal print table cloths, not campy but fabulous. And copper silverware to add a rustic feel. The centerpieces were based on the stuffed animals my mom had bought and after the shower they went into Landon's safari themed room! I think it's a great idea to find out how the baby's room will be decorated and go with that theme. It makes things practical and special.

The beautiful location is my sisters house in the Hollywood Hills. What a view! Another special touch was they had it catered from my favorite restaurant The Farm. The food was amazing and then the chocolate cakes were my favorite dessert from Marmalade Cafe. That cake is the best thing ever!
Here are some Safari themed invitations from Paperbuzz! FABULOUS!
