Fabulous Project- Nursery Update

As you can see stuff is sort of everywhere. We are getting built in shelves made for below and around the sides of the windows. That can hold all the books and stuff laying around. Those pictures on the wall are of us on safari and the baby animals we saw.

Do I keep the Safari theme? I guess getting rid of the ottoman and possibly the rocker could be next. His crib is also a big boy bed so once we change it we'll need more space.

Would love any suggestions you have! Have you transitioned a room to be toddler friendly? Tell me!
I'll keep you posted for the after pictures.

I am so excited about the bloggy baby shower! If you haven't heard about it read yesterdays post!

The build-in shelves will be a great help, especially if you use nice baskets to hold the stuff on each shelf.

Also, the safari photos can still be used. Just transition from the infant animals to the more realistic looking stuffed animals...and maybe add some safari camp gear that he can play with too...

Have you thought about moving the crib/toddler bed to the other wall? If you are getting rid of the chair you might be able to open up some floor space for more play area. Just a thought without being able to see the whole room :)

I am having the same problems. The crib has been gone for awhile now but the room still looks very "nursery". I have lots of good decorating ideas, but need to get to them!

So cute! I love the safari theme. I remember wanting the huge giraffe at FAO when I was young. Hey, I would still love to have it, along with the larger than life crayons (pink and green please)!

I love the idea of the safari room! I think once you have the shelves put in that will make a huge difference! I can't wait to find out what we are having so that I can start planning the nusery!
Oh and I love the huge giraffe, he is so cute!

I love safari themes for little ones. Next up--Indiana Jones? I have done baby room and then moved straight into big boy room. I painted walls, changed furniture, lost all baby art and did a major rehaul. My easiest decorating change was a pottery barn wall shelf to house favorite trains from my son's thomas the tank engine days. It was easier to part with that part of his life with just a few left over in sight.
I hate clutter, so I love the idea of built in shelves and everything in its place. Good luck!

I completely changed Tom-Tom's baby room (PB Trains) to a toddler room (Toy Story 2). But it was only because I wanted a new theme. I could have kept the trains but I had a bug up my butt to do something totally different.

My only advice on the Toddler room is make it safe enough that a little one can rumble around in there unsupervised. Once you can't confine them in the crib, it's a gamble. I try to have Boo stay in her room doing quiet things like books or toys until 6:30 AM! Seriously! She gets up occasionally at FIVE! WHAAAT? Anyway, it's nice to know she can't pull over book cases, or unplug things while I'm still TRYING to get a little rest.

I'm in the midst of transitioning from nursery to big boy room myself, and sorry to say it's been 6 or 7 months since we got the "big boy bed" up and I've not completed the project. I'm also doing built-in around one of the windows which will be the most help.
