I watched with hubby and I have to say it was pretty spectacular!!!
Highlights?
1) The giant LED screen in the shape of a scroll with ever changing pictures.
2) The printing press moving up and down by people!
3) The painters painting with their feet and hands as they danced on the floor.
and
4) The USA team coming out looking so dapper in Ralph Lauren! GO USA!!!!

we watched it last night, and it was amazing!!!! I could not believe how beautiful it was. The drummers in the beginning were so awesome.
So sad to hear about on the volleyball teams parents who were hurt/killed this morning. So much for all of that amazing unity last night:( Clare
eh- frankly i thought it was very true to their film-making which i find extremely boring and lots of brooha ha to just say 'hello'. I didn't like it-we muted it, I worked and waited for our countries to come up and then went to bed. i'm looking forward to swimming, vball, and tennis. can't wait.
We watched the opening ceremony as well, it was truly amazing!

I fell asleep before TEAM USA was announced!
I thought it was wonderful! I can not imagine how much time and money went into the ceremonies. I wish I could have stayed up to see the torch lit. Let the games begin!
We were definitely entertained and impressed. Wow! Go USA!
I thought they did an amazing job and I especially loved the 2008 drummers with the lights - so cool. I also cried when Yao Ming came out with the Chinese flag and was joined by the little boy who saved his classmates in the earthquake. What a beautiful picture that made.
But nothing compares to last night, watching Michael Phelps win his 1st gold of this Olympics! And him looking for his mom. What a mama's boy - I bawled.
wow, i must be the only one not at all interested in the Olympics......but then again, i haven't been interested in it since like, 1980.
I missed it:( I was watching those WIggles/Dora episodes!
Wasn't it AMAZING! I watched in awe the entire time. That part of the world has such amazing history, art and talent to display, it was a feast for the eyes. I loved it all, so hard to name my favorite parts. The US looked so clean and crisp in the RL, LOVED it!!!
I wanted to give that little orphan a hug and take him home, he was the most precious little boy. I cracked up when they interviewed him and he knew some English, classic!
I thought it was fantastic, and I usually hate this type of whoopla. But Sophie had a good question during the drumming: Where are the women?? They came later but were not nearly as exciting.
Loved that the little boy's explanation for why he went back to save classmate was that he was the hall monitor.
