It's The Little Things-My New Boyfriend Garmin

My first boyfriend (after becoming a wife and mother) was Tivo. He always looked out for me and whenever I had a bad day he was waiting at home to serve me. He even knew what shows I might like and recorded them for me. He was a real doll.

Move over Tivo, you've been replaced, by my navigation system GARMIN. Maybe you're one of those people who can find their way around town with relative ease. Me not so much. I've been living in Los Angeles since 1996 and I STILL get lost and never can remember how to get to places. The scenario goes like this.

Running late I jump in the car with my mapquested address. I am sitting in traffic fuming. Then when I am close to my destination I realize the directions are wrong. I call The Mr. and angrily try to make him give me directions. He gives me words like North and South, East and West which make no sense. I ask real questions like: is it near the Target we went to when I was really pregnant and melted down in the sippy cup aisle? He doesn't know what I am talking about. I get mad and get off the phone. He calls back and somehow gets me there.

You would think a person like me would just go out and buy a Garmin, but since I put myself last on the list, I never thought if it! Instead my gorgeous Mother gave it to me as a gift. I called to tell her how thrilled I was and she was relieved. She thought I would take it as an insult! Wait. Should I?

Oh who cares. My new boyfriend Garmin and I go everywhere together and love each other to death. He is always right, which astonishingly doesn't bother me at all. If only he would also do the grocery shopping. A girl can dream right?

PS Garmin didn't pay me for this but they should!

I am the SAME way with directions and have had similar phone calls. I am very old school and used to keep directions to certain places in my glove box. Funny!

I burst out laughing reading this! This is so me & my phone calls to my husband where I get pissed off & hang up on him. I have a magellan that I love, love, love! I finally threw out my mapquested directions. Im not the best driver in the world so not having to read directions as I drive makes such a difference.

I so need one of these things. I wouldn't be offended if I got one as a gift! And you definitely need one in LA. Mapquest is so frustrating!

Our current family car has a built in GPS and I LOVE it. I disliked our old one that sat on the dashboard and had cords- I rarely used it but I am always using our current one - It's quite the luxury and I never worry about getting lost. You're right - it is the little things! :)

Just drove to DC and then back again with my sister's Garmin - and I love it! It eliminates any stress of dealing with the speeding traffic - having to get in the right lanes at the right time - no stress about missing an exit!
