In the Mother-hood.

I once again have no nanny (DON'T ASK) and I started to think I am over this nanny stuff, I can do this on my own! Forget it! I'll just get a maid to help with cleaning. So today, armed with confidence and a massage I had last night at a spa....(Mothers Day has started!) I took on the day.

I got both kids up and fed, put the baby down for a nap and played hide and seek, tag, and more with Landon. Then he had speech therapy (he's doing great!), and I fed the baby again. Then I took Landon and Coco out to lunch. Landon asked for pancakes and I said WHY NOT! Of to Jerry's Deli. Coco slept and we had a fabulous time!

Back for Landon's nap, and feeding Coco. Now here's where things started to turn....Cue evil slasher music....

Coco would not stop screaming for a solid two hours. Wouldn't sleep, or be awake without screaming. Landon wakes up early from his nap. At this point I decide to turn into Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde when she realized she'd never be good enough for her douchey (yes I said douchey) boyfriend and started to kick ass at law school for herself. I pull up my bootstraps and head to the park with my good friend Natalia and her kids.

This is the park we go to usually in the morning (can you feel the tide turning against me?). There's usually tons of shade (sharks are circling), and it's a wonderful time (cue leaves swirling around and winds coming up). We get there and its hot. Africa Hot. Hot as hell. The winds start picking up (for real), and the baby starts bawling. We've been at the park for five minutes.

Even with sweet Natalia trying to help me there was no use. The baby wanted to eat again and the wind was blowing so hard every time I took her out of the stroller she would start choking from the wind blowing in her face. I crouched down by the sand pit to feed her hiding behind the stroller for shade and cover. The sand got all over her blankets and blew the stroller down the sidewalk. She was still crying. The whole thing was a nightmare and it was one million degrees. I tried hard to stay because Landon was having fun...but we had to bail. I was so exhausted I went through the drive threw for a Dr. Pepper. Full octane ladies. No diet for me.

Just another day in the Mother-hood. And how was your day?

Oh you poor thing. We have all had those days. I think the key to my sanity as a SAHM (I teach during the school year, but have summers off) is nap time when they are little. On the days I get that two or three hour chunk of time to do as I please everything is great. On the days that the naps get screwed up it's another story. If mama ain't happy then nobody is happy. We all know the saying. ;)

Hang in there it will get better. Just try and get some sleep (easier said than done) and definitely get that cleaning lady. Having a clean house will allow you to focus on the kids.

Feel free to email if you ever need a shoulder. I've BTDT times three (all boys)

I had a morning from hell. I had horrible sleep last night. Carter woke up early. He was whiny and grouchy. Josh made it home from work and usually gets Carter ready...with Carter being grouchy it took both of us tag-teaming it to get everything done before I needed to leave to drop Carter off at the Babysitter and to work...I decided I was just going to be late and stopped at McDonald's for a Egg McMuffin and Diet Coke...that makes me feel better!

Hope your day is better today!

Ugh- I am sorry to hear about your day. You know you're not alone though. And I have to say that those kind of days will be a distant memory when they are older. Certain things get easier as they get older -at least you can sent them to schoool. :)

Definitely get the housekeeper, maybe that will be a better path for you. Good luck & hang in there!

I so feel your pain, how long till 12 weeks. Get the cleaning lady and one afternoon/day of babysitting, that's how I stay sane

Excellent storytelling! I'm sorry that it comes as the result of a stressful day, though.

I thought I was stressed today with work, but I'm not complaining - I only have me to look after! I don't know how you moms do it.

OK, first let me just say for the record that I am not laughing AT YOU. But this is the funniest post you've ever written. Love the visuals.

I'm telling you. If motherhood were easy, men could do it. You're a rock star and YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS. I promise! Dr. Pepper? Pancakes? Whatever it takes, dear!

Good grief what a day. I do NOT miss parks in CA - we could never go to half of the ones in our area after ten am half of the year because it was too hot...

Is the pediatrician doing anything for Coco's acid reflux?

Nevermind - just remember that you were wearing pre-pregnancy jeans yesterday (with a cute pedi I might add).

By the way, have you ever tried taking her in the bathroom and running the shower when she's crying for that long? The steam and soothing noise of the water used to calm Miss E every time.

Oh, and I spent four hours today at the hospital when my glucose test and normal appointment turned into a series of nonstress tests and consultations.

Oh and I had S with me.

And no bag of toys/treats/distractions...

It was pleasant.

oh how I can relate/feel for you... but you do tell a great story! Douchy and Africa hot... priceless! Tomorrow WILL be better :) and YES you can do it. If you can find a nice college girl to come in for 2-3 hours 2 or 3 days a week you will be feeling like yourself again in no time. Never give up the house cleaner.... you hear me? NEVER :)

Housekeeper...no better way to spend money in my opinion! Nothing is a better stress reliever than the smell of a fresh clean house. Remember that these days will pass and you will find your stride as a mother of two.

Oh dear!! Thank goodness for the peaceful morning anyhow! For some reason your story made me think of the time that Legare slammed the bathroom door on Lorelai's hand. She started screaming and he started crying because he knew he was in trouble. Hank started yelling "she's hurt" and as I ran across the kitchen to the stairs I slipped and fell smack on my you know what on the hard tile kitchen floor. We moms just have to live in the land of crazy a lot of time, don't we!!

Holy crap, what a day. Lucky you, I know a fabulous nanny who has, unfortunately, just lost her job. So, when would you like me to start?! :)
(You saw Tori recently?! So jealous!)
