Potty Training--DAY 3

Landon continues to do very well with the 3 Day Potty Training approach. I highly recommend you buying this E-book, you can download it and it answers all your questions and also gives you the "how to" of three day potty training. Landon can now pee pee in the potty, go through naps and nights without peeing, and is working on doing #2. Right now he goes in his undies, but we are working up to it!

I am hoping by the end of today he will have it down! Even if he isn't trained in three days this book has helped more than I can say, and given us the confidence to THROW OUT THE DIAPERS!

Let me tell you though, I am exhausted! I swear this week I will talk about something else other than poo and pee, but while I am on the subject, a little potty training advice of my own.

1) You can do it!
2) Treats, presents and rewards work
3) Positive praise and encouragement work sooooo well
4) They can do it! (22 months an older can at least)
5) Commit to it for three solid days and stay at your house
6) Throw out the diapers!

xoxo The Mrs.

Congrats! Glad things are going so well for you! I agree with throwing out the diapers - there's no going back that way. :)

That is awesome! I wish we would have tried the 3 day approach. It seemed like we were working on it for a bit and then one day it just clicked.

Go you! I did it in three days as well, and on the night of day three, I fell in a heap in the bathroom with her in the tub. It was my "safe place"...the only place I felt like I didn't have to "monitor" and be "on task". I almost gave up that night due to sheer exhaustion. But a good friend talked me out of it. So proud of Landon. And MOM! Keep it up! And I say, buy yourself a pair of fab shoes next time YOU go in that potty! It's positive role modeling. Eh?

It sounds like things are going really well with potty training. As for the pooping; when I trained The Belle I would watch for her "cues". She would pretty much "go" about the same time each morning. As soon as I saw her focusing we would run to the potty. It didn't take her long to catch on (she did not and still does not like being dirty). The May was a tad more difficult. She would "hold it" and then in return get constipated. So, I talked to the pharmiscist and he recommended giving her orange juice or Dr. Pepper. There is some sort of acitic in both that helps the bottom contract to "go". It took us a couple of months to finally convince her that it was ok to poop on the potty. There were times she would sit there and cry because she had held it for so long. When she would finally go we would give her a big reward (like a reeses cup). You are doing great! Stick with it and he will get it in no time.

Sounds fabulous! Is he still in a crib? Does he try and use going potty to get out of napping?

We are dragging our tails on this task! Thanks for the inspiration. The transition the bed went very smoothly for us... He isn't showing any desire to use the potty. Yikes!

I could not agree with this approach more! We used a book called 24 hour potty training as a reference for all 4 of our kids. I think the main thing to do is to commit to a new way of life (i.e. NO MORE DIAPERS). Just get rid of the diapers, and say, THIS IS IT! Believe me, no child wants to run around in soiled clothing, and they will get with the program pretty quickly, once they see that 1) you mean business and 2) you are so proud of their new accomplishments!

Way to go Landon! Way to go Mrs!!!!

Great for you! I hated potty training. I'm soooo glad that it's past us.

glad it is going well! I had a harder time potty training the boys vs the girls. Not sure why... especially the overnight deal. All I can say is stay away from the pull ups - they figure out fast they are a safty net and we had the hardest time getting them off them! Finally had to fork over for one of those night time alarms which worked wonders
