Things You Should Know By Now- MAKE UP!
I am turning 40 next year (GASP!) and it really has me thinking. Not just about what I want to do for the next chapter of my life, but about what I really should know by now! There are a few things that I don't know enough about, that seem like they might be too useful to pass up. So let's jump right in shall we?
You may know that I am makeup challenged. I know a few things but good lord I should know more by now!
Here are a few tips I found through my research!
1)Put lotion on before foundation so it's less cakey, also foundation can be replaced by three different color concealer sticks if you'd rather. If you do use foundation you need a light reflecting, creamy, and sheer one.
2)Self tanner, or Bronzer, is the key to looking rested. Don't think of it as a fake tan! Think of it as a year round make up tool.
3)Test make up colors on the back of your hand if you're in your 20's or 30's. If you are in your 40's test your make up on the fleshy web between your thumb and forefinger. That way you can see if it has the tendency to get cakey.
And...
For the perfect smokey eye (mine usually looks like a black eye!) I found this make up lesson by Beau Nelson. Turns out he has a whole series! Take a look!
I think I need to watch all his videos!!!
What's your best make up tip?

I'm so glad you posted this!!
Please tell what self tanner for your face you use.
Thanks for the tip. I have nothin' to offer in the way of make up tips.
I am a make-up junkie in that I will try anything once and love reading reviews on make-up and skin care products. My back pocket secret is microdermabrasion treatments. I've been getting 5 or 6 a year for about 5 years now and they do wonders for fine lines and texture. My most recent great make-up find is Laura Mercier's eye shadow primer. It comes in different skin-colored/neutral shades and it really does work to keep eye make-up on all day long.
I've been using Too Faced Lip Balm in Chocolate Bunny...It's the perfect pinky-brown color with a bit of shine! (and it taste like chocolate!)
I like Benefits Lemon Aid eye primer...really brightens up the eyes!
You are gorgeous! You don't even need makeup!
I am with you on this..I am lazy and clueless. Friends make fun of me that I carry my face cream in my purse. As I usually apply it around noon on the GO! What self tanner for the face is the best??? Have a fabulous week.
xxxxx me
Thanks for the tips. I wish I had some to offer but I am makeup challenged for the most part. I was just noticing that I am looking 'tired' so I will try to self-tanner trick.
OOoh. I need make-up. I'm now in the mood to shop!
Loved that video. We had one of the nine girls on our girls' beach weekend do all of our eye makeup. She is the master when it comes to smokey eyes.
I really like your new header photo! The kids are looking so cute and you and hubby are adorable!
You are lucky in that you probably do not need much makeup! You have a beautiful complexion. :)
Yay!!!! Clinique City Concealer + Bare Minerals has been my answer to the foundation challenge. I desperately need makeup help.
I love Bare Essentials Makeup, it is easy to use! I go very basic. I love your new header!
Love this post! I need all the help I can get!

I was going to say (as my tip) to wiggle the mascara brush ...but the video guy beat me to it! Great video, btw. Learned a lot. :)
I was anxious to read this! I am so long overdue for a makeover. I agree about the bronzer. I alwys felt better when I wore it - it has just been forever!
