So You're Pregnant! Feeling Like Crap?

I am thrilled to be pregnant, amazed and blessed to be doing it without the help of fertility doctors this time around.

When I was pregnant with Landon I was tired in the beginning and at the end but that was it! This time is a whole different story! I am tired, yes, (I feel like Rip Van Winkle!), but I am also having low level nausea A LOT! Makes it hard to eat when you're hungry! Yes, I am still hungry just nauseous! I can hardly cook dinner, and when hubby does I have to leave the room, but them I have no problem eating it!!! WEIRD!

I also am breaking out like a teenager (hello hormones it's me, the Mrs.)
This is annoying because I never have skin problems!

I am a high risk pregnancy for sure. I am 38, and with all that happened with Landons arm, they are NOT taking any chances. My joke to everyone about this pregnancy and what my doctor is doing for me, is this: She went to the Olympics (Landon's birth) and did not medal. This time (baby #2), she is getting the GOLD! She was less excited about me getting pregnant on my own and more concerned with getting me on all the preventive medicine she had always been planning when I told her we were going to try for another baby. Here's the protocol she has me on:

3 mgs Folic Acid
Prenantal vitamin
baby aspirin
2 pills of progesterone
2 pills of steroids
and
I do a shot every day of Lovenox, a blood thinner

Yeah. A shot. It sucks. I have figured out a way to make it not hurt though. Most times I can do it with relatively no pain. The blood thinner does not cross the placenta, it's for me. Turns out Landon and I had clots on both sides of the placenta and the doctor wants to be safe. I was worried about having a blood thinner and being pregnant, but doc says they give a blood thinner to people who miscarry a lot. So far so good.

The steroids are to make sure I don't get all clotty as well. They still say what happened to Landon was a lightening striking event, but they are not taking any chances!

I have to say it's taken some of my worry away to see how much everyone else is on top of this pregnancy!

So, tired, nauseous, zitty and sick of shots. Pretty. Poor hubby, he also has to deal with my "mood". I'll talk about that tomorrow!

Hang in there! I am sure it is a relief that your doctor is doing so much to help you and the baby stay healthy during pregnancy.

I hope you have a nice week!

I am 42 and so tired of the emphasis on my "advanced maternal age." It's my 7th pregnancy, 5th baby ( 2 miscarriages and a vanished twin).

The sickness is probably a good sign for you. Something that I liked to sip on was the fizzy Vit. C powders, a couple of brands are Emergen-C and Fizz. I also have been drinking a green drink, like Kyo-Green. I'm about 14 weeks now - the sickness is gone and the appetite is back ( Rut-Ro!) Wishing you a healthy baby.

You are a trooper. I was VERY sick during both of my pregnancies but a zofran a day cured my ailments.

It's all such a pain. However, it's good to know it's all worth it in the end.

Hugs to you!!!! Hang in there. I had 2 HORRIBLE pregnancies. I pray that this is just the 1st trimester "ickiness" for you and that in a few weeks this will be a dream pregnancy!

It sounds like the doctors are looking out for you and the baby in EVERY possible way. I am sure that each day must be so tough, with all of the medicine and not feeling well. I had a lot of low level nausea too. I tried eating small snacks, almost all of the time, and it seemed to help a lot. If I got too hungry I felt worse!

Sending you bloggy hugs!!

Wow, Sweetie, you got a lot going on! Just breathe and take one thing at a time. You are the only MOM to LANDON....he needs you! Rest as much and as often as you can. Please don't extend yourself and try to do too much! This sweet new baby needs you to slow down, as well as Landon & your hubby!
Love you....

It's all worth it and all the things you went through will be completely forgotten once you hold your new little one for the first time. Hope your morning sickness doesn't last to long. I remember during one of my pregnancies, not even being able to go into a grocery store for awhile because it made me gag!

All the best-

The first tri and the last are the worst! Lemonade (or even smelling anything lemony/limey) helped quite a bit with my nausea. Hope it is short lived for you & that the rest of the pregnancy is UNEVENTFUL and smooth sailing!

I'm so sorry you're feeling bad. I was nauseous every day during the first trimester. My magic trick was Jolly Rancher candy...I used to buy two of the Sam's Club size bags at a time. I hope you feel better soon! (it sounds like they are taking super good care of you!)

I wish you the best as well. It's great that your doctor(s) are being so pro-active. I was lucky to have some great doctors for my 3 living angels. I also did a similar course of treatment that you are doing now. Hang in there!!!

So sorry to hear of all your meds! Try to take things one day at a time, right? I know....easy for me to say! Did I tell you that I will also have to be placed on blood-thinning injections when I conceive? (IF I ever conceive!). Heparin, not Lovenox. I have a huge deductible on my insurance and Lovenox would cost me about $1700 a month!! I am going to a Maternal-Fetal Specialist in a few weeks for a consult on the recent dx.

i hate to tell you this BUT i will! :) I had never, EVER had a zit. NEVER. Until I got pregnant with my daughter...and I felt the same way you do and my biggest craving were strawberries the first month and everything else repulsed me. Even chocolate. Can you imagine that horrible feeling!?

Oh yucky! It is wonderful that you're pregnant and I will keep you in my prayers for a healthy and safe pregnancy! I had that annoying mild nausea where I couldn't stand strong odors, foods, etc. I do hope you start to feel much better soon!!
After 4 years....CONGRATULATIONS!! :)
