Magic Takes Planning!

Landon's Mimi coming to visit for Halloween was fun, but was made even more enjoyable by a little planning on my part. I tried to think of some firsts that I hadn't done with him yet. What resulted were some fun memories and the cutest pictures!

When the grandparents come to visit, you have to use the time wisely. Make memories!

Landon and Mimi made pizza (a first for Landon), made ice cream sundaes (again a first!), and went to the pumpkin patch and petting zoo.

Mimi is also a painter so I made sure there was a watercolor session!

It's so important to think about what your Mom or Dad can share that they have a passion for. Hubby's Dad (Peepaw) is a train freak so we always go to Travel Town museum to see the old trains for his visits.

What do your kids do with their grandparents? Anything fun you can share?

My mom is ultra-crafty, so her visits usually involve sewing and cooking projects with the girls. She's set to arrive in two weeks for her next visit and phoned yesterday to let me know that she had shipped a box of craft supplies to our house since we live in the middle of nowhere!

Looks like they had fun! My mom lives in town so she does alot w/ my daughter. They sew alot which is good since I don't sew. And my mom is always the one to take her to get her haircut - it's their 'thing'.

My mother in law is out of town (in the mid west) and we haven't seen her in a couple of yrs. I try to keep her up to date w/ pictures and artwork but it's sad that she & LM don't really have a relationship. Unfortunately she does nothing on her part to foster one -it's hard to be one sided but I do my best!

How awesome to give them this special time to make these memories! So true that if they just do the same old same old, they won't remember it like they will if it is a first! xoxo

Discuss English philosophers:). We had to wait until the kids went to college for them to be able to do something with their grandfather...

My father-in-law loves to play, play, play and it makes for the best visits!

Congrats on the TT. I'm jealous!

I'm a long distance nana so I try to send mail - our newspaper has "The Mini-Page" so I send that to two of them and then I'll buy stickers or stuff that will go in an envelope to send to all of them - one daughter gave me a set of really cute postcards w/stamps and I send those off too! I liked some of your ideas and will try to plan better the next time I visit!!!

My mom doesn;t sit still so last month when she visited we did botanic garden, museum, puppet show, parks and of course making cookies. I think grandparent time is so fun for the kids and its nice to have an adult companion for me.

My Mom is a great cook and my children will often bake with Nana.

As for my inlaws...I guess they can read together...separate books...separate rooms....no conversation. Oh don't get me started!

My dad takes the kids for walks - from infancy up. He walks them to the creek to throw rocks. I love it. My son sees a rock, and he thinks it needs to be thrown. It always annoys him when he sees so many kids in the play centers at the mall - he doesn't understand why the kids aren't in the local parks.

Spending time with grandparents is the best. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

So sweet! Peepaw is an awesome grandpa name - my dad is Monka which my oldest made up trying to say grandpa. ALL the grandchildren call him that now and although he rolls his eyes - I think he really LOVES it
