I'm Quirky Like That....

Hubby gets a huge kick out of this, and it is only recently that I can really understand how funny (I mean KOOKOO) I have been about this but, here goes...

Remember this quote from Steel Magnolias from the great Dolly Parton as "Truvy":
"In a good shoe, I wear a size six, but a seven feels so good, I buy a size eight." Well, the opposite is true for me. I used to wear a size 7 shoe because I was a size 8, then I wore a size 8 because I was 8 1/2. Now, I have come to the realization that I am a size 9! What is my problem!

I remember playing lacrosse in high school and my feet would by dying. I thought it was normal for your feet to hurt in your running shoes! Hubby told me when we went shopping for sneakers "What are you doing? You need to get a bigger size!" I was horrified. I do not have a size 9 foot. I am a dainty, petite and feminine 5 foot 9!!!

It's not like I am buying some insane shoe like this:

I just want to wear shoes like this:

I think maybe in my past life I must have been a Chinese woman in the 1800's. I think I was binding my feet so they'd be a size 5.

So that's how I'm quirky. I'm tagging you. How are you quirky? Let me know if you post about it!!!

You are too funny....I have all kinds of quirks. I can't think of them right now though. My husband points them out all the time. One of my big things is I cna't wear fancy shoes. Wearing police boots for almost 13 years has trashed my feet and made them wider. If I wear leather shoes, it takes me a long time to break them in.

I am an 8 1/2 at 5 foot 3 so I keep thinking that I have to grow taller. No one has a foot that big when they are that short, do they??? I may start binding my feet. If it's not too late...

I'm quirky in MANY ways, but the one that most of my friends bug me about is the fact that I always take my own sheets and blankets to hotels - no matter if it's a Four Seasons or the like - I know quirky right?

...just a note Snowflower and the Secret Fan was an awesome novel about foot binding...

At 5'10" I wear a size 10....it's ALWAYS hard to find cute shoes in my size but I never go smaller. I stand for 9 hours a day, no way could I do my job in shoes that pinch!!

You are so funny! I was a size 9 or 9 1/2 (depending on the shoe) before I had my son and after I just kept wearing the same shoes. I finally figured out why my feet were hurting in every single pair of shoes I owned --- I am now buy a size 10.

I just love Steel Magnolia's, a true classic! this is too funny, and my quirks are just far too many! I willl share here though that one of my biggest quirks would have to be that I keep my finger nails super short! Like no white on the tips short!

I used to do the same thing - always longing for smaller feet and trying to give the illusion of it in high school and paying the price in PAIN! Now I embrace my size 8.5 - 9 cause life's too short to have hurting hooves all the time!

I can't seem to walk up stairs without counting them (silently in my head of course - ha!)
