Update

I am home and fine. The amnio was scary but the doc said she thinks everything looks good. No news on the sex though! Little baby would no cooperate!!!! Have to wait for results to know the sex! Rats!!!

Happy Halloween!!! From Rasta Cat!

Yes I had to. I needed a laugh!

I'll be blogging from my bed today and I'll let you know how everything goes!

Big Day, Scary Day?

Tomorrow is my amnio and I have to say I am a little scared. I am not a fan of needles, although between my blood thinner shot and now testing my blood sugar four times a day, I'm getting good at it!!
With Landon I chose not to have an amnio because we had jumped through such hoops to get pregnant that I didn't want to take the chance.

I was going to do an amnio this time anyway, just because, like you guys. I am dying to know the sex! But, turns out I needed one. Here's where you guys can help me with prayers! My numbers for downs were a little funky, doc says this is due to my age, but I am still scared. Please pray for baby that there is nothing wrong at all.

The good part is I may find out tomorrow what I'm having just by seeing it on the monitor... Either way I am on bed rest the rest of the day after the test. So no trick or treating with little Bob the Builder, but I'll be able to take pictures of him! I'm sad but I want to get this done asap.

I hope everyone is getting excited for Halloween!!!

She's Gone!

She's gone. Got kicked off DWTS. See? My reverse psychology worked!!!!

Target Practice! Shoot Score!

Okay the Mrs. has no interest in buying maternity clothes the second time around. The first time I could not help myself. This time I just want to look as cute as I can but not waste money!! I am not going to wear sweatpants during my pregnancy (unless it's late at night and no one sees me!), so I needed some clothes!

Enter Target. Or rather Tarjay. Like your high school boyfriend, Target is a cheap thrill you never feel guilty about. Good times.

Here's what The Mrs. got! (Oh great I sound like Suede from Project Runway)

First, pictured above the hering bone pants by Liz Lange.

Then I got this, not maternity, because it's 90 degrees!!! Got it in charcoal grey too!

But I could not leave without this!!!

Then at Old Navy...

This looks amazing and modern. Such a great top.

This is cute too with my maternity jeans!

High School Musical 1988- The Reunion

Had a wonderful time, and even now the song : "Our House", by Madness, rings through my ears..."our house in the middle of our street..." Don't make me break into "safety dance".

I was happily surprised at the turn out (100 plus) and even more amazed at how great everyone looked!!! Twenty years later and most people had not gained weight or lost their hair! (well, most people...) I planned the whole thing, and by plan, I mean I hired a company to do it all because no one else would and I didn't want to shell out any money! It was such a cheesy affair but still fun!

Mom dropped me at BFF's house at 10am and then we picked up two other BFf's. We then went into town so I could experience my favorite high school lunch from the deli: Chicken cutlet sandwich! It's a chicken cutlet on a roll with melted Muenster cheese and tomato, topped with Russian dressing! HEAVEN!
Then it was off to BFF's mom's house to look at photo albums and die laughing. Then to the Ritz where we primped, ate, drank and laughed more. Then drinks in the lobby with other high school ladies and on to the reunion!

Here's the gossip- as promised...

-Hot football player may now be working for the CIA? He was vague about his job on the hill" but word on the street is he's a spy!

-Old high school boyfriend told me I still smelled fantastic. Hello? Ego boost? Thank God. Chalk one up for pregnant girl.

-Good guy friend had gone to jail for insider trading and now seems pretty happy. Glad to see him doing well.

I was the only pregnant one there (that I saw), but some had just had babies. I tell you I was exhausted when I returned Sunday! Could barely move!
Big Thanks to hubby who held down the fort like a champ and managed to get sooooo much of the new improvements to the kitchen done!!! Love you hubby!!!!

Prayers For Step Dad

Thanks for your prayers. Bob did well and is now recovering. You guys are the best.

Reunion Weekend!

I had a great time at my reunion (more on that tomorrow), and a great time seeing my Mom and Step Dad.

Their house is so gorgeous in the fall I just had to share some pics!

Mom and I spent the day together and took a trip to mecca, I mean Lilly Pulitzer.

I saw this cute French bull dog "Luke", laying under the children's clothes....

and here's the outfit I would dress my daughter in if I get the chance to have one!!!

We had lunch at a fabulous place called L'escale, right on the water...

And had manicures! Such a treat! Thanks Mom!

Please send prayers my Step Dad's way as he undergoes a procedure tomorrow to unclog an artery...I'm praying for you Bob!

Dear Jet Blue

Dear Jet Blue,

We need to talk. We had a good thing going didn't we? I flew you every chance I got because your flights are always so stress free. Better terminals, stewards and stewardesses, and of course TV!

My flight yesterday shows me you are not feelin' the love anymore. You know I love some kids Jet Blue, I have one of my own and one on the way! I know they can be tough, but when you let parents let their kids run up and down the aisles, cry incessantly and trash your plane things have gone too far. You need to tell these parents to tend to their kids even though they should know better than to try to take a nap while their four kids go crazy.

It also wasn't very nice to turn down the air conditioning to the point where passengers are sweating, reset the TV's and be without them for a half hour and take at least two hours to serve drinks (as we're sweating).

Now I'm not saying we're breaking up, I'm just saying I'm unhappy. You've got another chance when I fly back home. Unfortunately though some damage has been done. When they turned off the TVs you were just another crappy flight on another crappy airline. There, I said it. Sorry. I just couldn't help myself.

I hope we can stay together. I love those Blue Terra chips.

Love

High School Musical- Class of 1988

Yes darlings I am OLD. O-L-D. How else can I explain that I am attending my 20th high school reunion? How in the world was it twenty years ago!!??

Was it that long ago that I, the Mrs, was a Miss? Wearing Silver City Pink lip stick, my cool Levis with holes in the knees, and my Ton Sur Ton jacket? If only I could click my red Mia flats and go back to those days. it was a hoot I tell ya.

I was not a great student, but I didn't try hard enough most of the time. I had a boyfriend named Peter who adored me, and a group of friends that were "cool". I played Lacrosse and, hung out at the local deli at lunch with my girlfriends. I never ate cafeteria food once. Never have, never will. I drove around in my navy Honda accord thinking life was fantastic.

There were hard times, my parents divorce, break ups, friendships that went sour...but all in all, I had a blast.

So here I am, still loving Culture Club, the Thompson Twins and Howard Jones. I am heading east for my twentieth, funniest thing is it was me who planned it. I wasn't in the Student Government, a cheerleader, head of the Math Club, or valedictorian. Just a girl who had fun in high school and wants to see everyone again and was sick of waiting for someone else to plan it!!

I am not worried about being the thinnest (hello, I'm pregnant!), the cutest, the one who's done the best in life...I am just grateful and happy to relive some of those days and thanks to Sirius Satelite Radios all eighties station I will be rockin' with my high school girls and singing.

When I get back I'll fill you in on all the gossip. Hey, it's still high school!

L.A. Story #127- Cloris Leachman Is Stalking Me

After catching Landons cold Friday night, I promptly sent myself to bed since hubby could watch Landon that night, and he had Saturday off too. I am leaving this week to go to my 20th high school reunion (yes damn it, I am old, more on that later) and I do not want to be sick!

I made a miraculous recovery and was able to go out on a much needed date on Saturday night. We went to our favorite local French restaurant, that features dining al fresco on a brick patio dripping with ivy.

I was so happy to be out and feeling better I almost didn't notice the lady at the next table. Almost. Except I could not miss her as she was carrying on, sitting on other patrons laps screaming and laughing. Oh yes ladies and gentlemen, Cloris Leachman.

Now you may or may not know that I have personally waged a small scale campaign to kick Cloris off of Dancing With The Stars. Every time she is on the show she talks incessantly, sits on the judges laps and flirts with everyone from Tom Bergeron to the band leader. Week after week she keeps coming back as a cruel joke being played out on The Mrs. I can barely watch the show anymore. I know I am supposed to have respect for my elders but God help me.

So here I am at dinner watching the live show version of Cloris Leachman. She is loud, flirting with people at other tables and joining them for dinner, and hubby and I are trying to avert our eyes as not to have her come over to us.

Now there's only one thing to do. Clearly she is stalking me. I have to take matters in my own hands to protect myself and my family. I am now endorsing Cloris and hope she wins Dancing With The Stars. I know when to say "Uncle". Stop stalking me Cloris! I can't take it!

Fabulous Five for Friday- My Icons

My post on the show Iconoclasts made me think of who my dream meet and greet would be with. Who are my icons? Who would I love to sit down with and soak up everything they say!? This is real so I am not going to say my Grandmother or Jackie O! Alive people! Here's my top five:

1. Carol Burnett-
I have loved Carol Burnett since I was a child. I love her whole story about being raised by her Grandma (the whole reason she tugged her ear on the Carol Burnett show was a nod to her), and how gracious she was to her co-stars. Her talent was rare, in that she made others laugh but could laugh at herself. Who didn't love when she would just crack up! I saw her in Moon Over Buffalo on Broadway a few years ago and she's still got it! I lllllllooooooove her as Ms. Hannigan in the movie Annie! I would love to sit with her and ask her how she juggled career and kids, what are her regrets, biggest acheievements, and biggest laughs!

2. Maya Angelou-

I could just weep when she speaks and her poetry brings me to my knees. So much wisdom, I would just love to ask her about being a woman and what she feels the best part of her life has been. I'm sure she'd say right now!

3. Sally Field-

Sally Field has had the longest and I think sanest career, while having a family and not ending up looking like a plastic surgery victim. She is vulnerable and wise and I would love to pick her brain about the entertainment world and motherhood!

4. Deepak Chopra
I am almost afraid to spend time with him! Such a deep river. I think he would force me to meditate! I need it!

5. My preacher-

I could talk to him all day and still feel like I have more questions. He is amazing and has helped me through the toughest times in my life and inspires me to connect and reach out to people.

I am tagging anyone who wants to do this! Let me know if you do!

Pumpkin Patch

I gotta say the pumpkin patch we went to was FAR, but worth it! So amazing to pick your pumpkin from an actual vine from an actual field of pumpkins! Landon loved it and it was a gorgeous day!

There was a petting zoo, a bouncy, a corn maze...I mean wow! I was a citified person growing up...I don't think we ever went to a patch! I'm so glad Landon can have this experience!

Have you been to a pumpkin patch this year?

Project Runway Finale!

Well. Jerky Kenley got the ax and I thought her collection sucked. Again she ripped some other designer off! Hello! RESEARCH!

Leannne won and I thought she deserved it. Her collection was flawless. From the first design I knew she won but...I feel unsatisfied! I think I wanted mommy Korto to win it for all us moms! Don't worry Korto your stuff was fabulous!!!

Project Runway Finale!

You know how some people luuuuurrrrve football and it culminates with the superbowl? Well ladies, tonight the superbowl is on. the Project runway finale. I am so excited I can hardly stand it!

Let's do a little Sports Center and pre game show.

The three finalists are korto, Leeanne, and Kenley (the bitchy one).

Korto is sweet and deserves to win. She has a daughter and hubby and is the oldest in the competition. She's done well through the whole competition. I love the way she designs. My favorite moment of hers was when she said " I just have to claim it in the name of Jesus I am going to Bryant Park!". Priceless. You go girl!
Will she win? No. I saw her collection and said to myself...might not be good enough!

Leanne kinda grew on me. At first i thought she was as exciting as a dish rag, but she's come out of her shell a little. She's kinda nerdy but her construction of clothing is flawless. She has real talent. Will she win? Maybe! Her designs look really good! But remember she needs to put on a show. Can she do it?

Kenley is a bitch on wheels. I started out Loving her. The little bangs and vintage forties look. Fab. Then she got a big head, became rude, defensive and a bog cry baby. Her designs started to really go down hill. This one evening dress she made looked like a purple lizard. UGLY. Then when Heidi said it wasn't elegant she exclaimed: " I wasn't going to elegance Heidi!" R-U-D-E!!! Will she win? Possibly. But I don't want her to!

Are you gonna watch?

Fabulous TV- Iconoclasts on Sundance Channel

Maybe it's because I think Landon looks like Laird Hamilton, or maybe I was just in a mood, but I fell in love with the show Iconoclasts on the Sundance Channel.
The idea behind the show is that they match up two interesting and iconic people who really respect each other and put them together, not as an interview but more spending time together. This one was with big wave surfer, Laird Hamilton and Pearl Jam front man, Eddie Vedder. They have also some amazing pairings like Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu and Richard Branson, Barishnikov and Chef Alice Waters, and Paul Simon and Lorne Michaels!

This was so fun to watch. They followed Laird to Maui where they surfed together and talked about where the passion to surf starts...and then Laird came to a concert with Eddie and talks about his passion for music. Laird was saying how music helps him enjoy the wave and not be afraid. He has a song in his head and it slows him down and he can enjoy the moment. Eddie was saying there is no denying there's a God when you look out over the ocean in Maui. He also said the thing that blows his mind about concerts is to see so many people agreeing on something. I love that!

They're running them all right now so tell your boyfriend Tivo asap. Such an unbelievable show! I want to see them all!

Fear- False Expetations Appearing Real?

There is so much fear and panic going on in the world right now. The stock market, housing foreclosures, banks and companies folding under the pressure...Then there's the uncertainty of that the election brings. Not to mention Aubrey was kicked out of Danity Kane by Diddy last week and Cloris Leechman is still holding on. I know, that upset me too. It's been a tough couple of weeks.

What's a girl to do? I am a positive person but good gracious this puts positivity to the test doesn't it? I keep wondering what good it is to stay in a place of worry. In a state of fear and panic. No good comes from that. I mean that literally.

I know we are feeling the need to tighten our belts and batten down the hatches. Maybe reigning in the spending is good for all of us, but that is no reason you can't still be generous. Generosity is born in spirit not in your wallet. Don't be stingy with your hearts, no matter how bad things get.

Reach out to your friends and family, get together, cook a meal at home with one another! Build each other up and be there for each other. I think that's what this time is all about.

Do things for yourself that bring you joy. Go to the beach. Bake a pie. Carve a pumpkin. Life will go on. And so will you.

Love
The Mrs.

Blog Shopping Week! Snappy Casual Gifts! And my new favorite bloggers!

As we close this bloggy shopping week, I bring you more fabulous things!
Snappy Casual Gifts is the kind of blog store I could spend some serious time in! How about the tote above for fall? Love Orange.

Here's a little bit about her:

"The business started right after college, which was over 10 years ago. My sorority was new to campus and I started out selling greek jewelry because there wasn't anyone in town selling gift items and jewelry with our sorority and they needed drop letter for initiation. It then evolved into greek and monogrammed jewelry. We (my mom and I) then started hosting an annual trunk show in late fall for early Christmas shopping. We promoted our monogram lines and also costume jewelry. When I went back to school to work on my masters degree I went to work part-time in an upscale gift and furniture store where I worked in the gift department and also worked as a bridal consultant. This was an amazing opportunity to really learn about retail sales and the in's and out's of the gift business. After leaving the store to have my son three years ago I realized how much I missed the gift business and Snappy Casual Gifts online store was born. It was a way for me to still interact with customers and sell beautiful gifts.
I enjoy the flexibility of the business being online because I can work on changes with the store at any hour of the day.
I just recently went back to teaching and also work several hours a week at my husband's office so being online is a perfect fit for my busy life."

To drop her a line you can go to her blog Snappy Casual Snippets

And the discounts continue! Snappy casual is giving my readers $6.00 off which is pretty much like free shipping! Just enter onefabmomblog and you're all set!!!

Blog Shopping Week! Monogram Chick!

Another blogger I love who has a fabulous store is: Monogram Chick! Look at these plates she does!

Here's her story:
"I grew up in a southern home, the daughter of a very Martha-esq mother. From the time I could walk I was helping her with crafts, sitting next to her at the sewing machine or peering over her shoulder as she smocked for my sister and me. I guess this exposure seeped into my being. I love anything that involves creating something beautiful.

After teaching seventh grade science for 4 years I took a sabbatical and put my innate love of all things crafty to work. Our family was blessed with a baby (my nephew) and using him as inspiration I began making burp cloths with fancy little fabrics, cute ribbon and finishing them off with monograms. Soon, I was traveling around the southeast looking for the cutest, most unique supplies and before I knew it Monogram Chick hatched!

Things have changed since the chick's humble beginnings. Monogram Chick has grown leaps and bounds since the first burp cloths made at the dining room table. I offer a much more extensive selection of fabulously unique products including gifts for bridesmaids, hostesses, sorority, housewarmings, children and babies. However, my roots remain in offering a terrific product with outstanding customer service."

She has gorgeous things. I just ordered this fabulous bag in chocolate brown with my monogram of course!!

Blog Shopping Week! Preppy Napkin

I wanted to feature some of my favorite bloggers stores this week. I am a fan of these girls and I know you will be too! I also wanted you to be inspired to support them and also see how they started!

My first love (of a bloggy store) was Preppy Napkin's store To Bee Named! She had me at "clutch" (the one I bought is pictured above). Monogrammed and fabulous it's a great little evening bag and I have received TONS of compliments on it.

Here's her story:

"I started almost 3 years ago after being home with my two children ages 3 and 6. I left the medical field to stay at home and was ready to do something that I could do out of my house, but also use my creativity and my business background.
I have the website and I also do gift shows each spring and fall.

I had been given personalized guest towels from my aunt in Fort Worth, Texas and loved them, so I did some investigative work on what kind of machine I would need, how to buy wholesale, where to buy napkins etc. and got a business license and here I am today."

I love all her things, so sassy and gorgeous. Like this cache pot that I am currently stalking:

Blue or black? Which one should I get!!

I did get this guest towel holder and it is DIVINE! I adore it!

Here's the really good news! Preppy Napkin is offering a discount to the One Fabulous Mom readers!!! Just enter OFM10 and receive 10% off your order at To Be Named! This will last for two weeks so get on it! I may get that cache pot after all!!!
